bfast fried rice

old rice
peanut oil
sesame oil
msg
salt
soy sauce
(all ingredients to taste)

heat up wok on supernova-type heat. when wok starts to smoke, add peanut oil and sesame oil and swirl to coat the wok. immediately add rice and continuously stir-fry it. if the rice is too clumpy and you did not separate it beforehand, you can smash it in the wok with a potato masher or simply your stiring implement. add salt or msg or both to taste. drizzle soy sauce and continue frying until rice is heated through and is at the desired crispiness level. eat immediately.

options: fresh garlic and eggs are possible additions. the eggs could be scrambled and added to the rice mixture, scrambled with the rice mixture itself, or cooked separately and eaten on top of the rice.

nowadays, i do not usually bother since those options would require additional preparation (which i am usually not interested in doing for bfast). i sometimes leave out the soy sauce as well. i also rarely cook everything for longer than a minute or two.

eating fried rice for bfast is probably the one remaining cultural culinary influence that i have (other than having a general taste for asian and pacific food in general). it is probably not great for you; i usually don't eat this stuff much anymore and instead eat oatmeal or fiber cereal.
